Everblue in Poloroid

October Stamp Club Card

I know it is only October but we have to get a few Christmas cards made at our stamp club workshop. This is our first Christmas card of the season.  We used two techniques:   The Shaker card and the Faux Letterpress techniques.  Unfortunately the photo does not show the Illuminate ink glittering in the stripes of the blue card stock (faux letterpress technique).  Here are the details on how to make this card.

Follow these techniques to make the poloroid shaker image and the striped background in Marina Mist:

Technique:  Shaker Card - Tutorial can be found on Splitcoaststampers

 To create the picture image in the "poloroid photo", stamp the evergreen trees in Midnight Muse ink.  Sponge Marina Mist ink over the entire piece of card stock.  If you want, you can sponge a bit of Midnight Muse ink as well.  Stamp the stars using the Illuminate ink. Continue following the Shaker card instructions.

Tips:  

Use wax paper when using the expression thinlits.  This will make your life so much easier!!!  The sandwich works like this:  Bigshot Platform, Acrylic plate, thinlit, wax paper, card stock, Acrylic plate.  Works like a charm.  Thanks Brenda, I think you were the one that gave me this tip!
 
We tried Mica Flakes but they did not move around in our window very easily.  Too much static.  I think if you would want to use the flakes, double up on the mounting tape height to give the flakes more space to move.  The glitter is heavier and moves easily in the window.

To adhere the "merry", roll the glue dots to fit to the back of the sentiment. Rolling the glue dots keep them hidden.   Another option is to use spray adhesive. 

The Illuminate ink was used in the Faux Letterpress Technique.

Hanging Ornament Keepsakes

 I totally cased this from a card I saw on Splitcoaststampers.  Loved it so much I had to copy it.  Love how the ornaments stand out against the white background.  The bow on either end of the line was too fiddly so I just made a bow at one end.

I led two Christmas stack parties this fall.  One in early September and the other at the end of November.  This is one of the cards we made.  Please excuse the speckles on the card.  Those are not supposed to be there.  The card was accidentally sprayed when cleaning some stamps.  I forgot to take a new photo of the card but decided to post this one anyway as I wanted a record of the card that was made.

Candlelight Christmas Ornament

November Stamp Club Card

This card was inspired by one I was in the Holiday Mini Catalogue.

Directions:

Stamp four ornaments and die cut with Ornament framelits.  Complete using the Honeycomb Technique.  as a guideline to make the above card.

Paper pierce Apothecary Accent Die and sponge daub using Old Olive ink.

Adhere ornament to Apothecary Accent Die.

Add a short piece of gold ribbon to the back of the ornament and the Apothecary Accent Die. 

Tie a piece of gold ribbon in a bow and attach above the ornament with a rolled glue dot.

Add strips of Candlelight Designer Series paper and Champagne Glimmer Paper to Very Vanilla card stock.  

Tie on Old Olive Ribbon. (At our stamp club, we used Real Red Ribbon instead.) 

Adhere to Real Red card stock then the Very Vanilla card base.  

Complete card by attaching Apothecary Accent piece and Glimmer star.

Very Vanilla: scraps for ornament and Apothecary Accent, 4 x 5-1/4, 5-1/2 x 8-1/2

Real Red:  4-1/8 x 5- 3/8

Snow Flurry in Blue

November Stamp Club Card

 At our November stamp club workshop0, we tried a new technique called Colour Blocking.  The card is simple but has the "wow" factor, I hope.  Since we made this card, I found some great samples online.  Take a look at these cards if you would like to be inspired:  Card by Beate and Card by Maile Belles.
 

Technique:  Colour Blocking with Card Stock

Directions:

Use the Colour Blocking Technique to create Snowflake:

Fill entire piece of 4 x 4 Whisper White card stock with adhesive. 

Place ½” strips of blue card stock next to each other over the adhesive covered  

square. 

Place on top of Snow Flurry Bigz die and run through Big Shot.

Stamp sentiment on Whisper White card stock.

Round corners of card stock.

Add a large pearl to the center of the snowflake and a dimensional to the back.

Complete card.

Dimensions:

Whisper White: 3.5 x 11 (card base), 4 x 4,  3 x 5

Strips of Bashful Blue, Marina Mist and Midnight Muse: 4 x ½

Marina Mist:  3 -1/8 x 5 -1/8

Have a Happy Holiday Season!

Well, by the time this gets posted, our family will be officially on holidays.  I hope I am prepared by now and if not, what can I do??  There is some Christmas baking done (gluten-free and non-gluten-free), the house decorated, the guest room ready for my parents (they are visiting from BC and braving the Winnipeg weather), some meals in the freezer so I don't have to spend all my time cooking and maybe the dust-bunnies have disappeared.  If you celebrate Christmas, I hope you are ready too. 

Here is one last holiday card.  I made this card last year but when I came across it a while ago, I decided to dress it up with some pearls.  I don't think I will ever get tired of them.

Peace on Earth

Another card for the Venture Club and Stack Parties.

You might have noticed that I used Always Artichoke ink for the string of the ornament even though there is Old Olive in the Designer Series Paper and the scalloped trim.  Normally I wouldn't do this because it isn't a perfect match.  But when you are preparing cards for a Stack party, it is best not to "share" inks between the various cards.  So, I needed to use a different green.  Gold didn't seem to show up very well and I didn't like it in red for some reason.  So Always Artichoke it stayed.

By the way, you know that vertical gold strip?  Those were made from pieces of card stock I had saved and had been sitting in my pile for a very long time.  Those little pieces do come in handy eventually!

Oops.  I just realized that I forgot to take a picture of the card after it was altered.  On the completed card I added a scalloped border in Old Olive card stock across the card (5 1/2" length); on top of the  red, gold and white card stock.  I used the Dotted Scalloped Ribbon Border Punch.  It just seemed to finish off the card.  You'll have to use your imagination to visualize it.  :)

Part 2: December Stamp Club Card

A Punched Cardinal Christmas

I saw this card online two days before the Stamp Club was going to meet and thought we just had to make this card.  Many sites displayed their with a punched cardinal card but didn't have instructions or you had to pay to download them.  I found one site HERE with very clear instructions.  Thank you to the Stamping for Sanity Blog.   Love her cards!

Directions:

1.  Make the cardinal using the Two-Step Bird Punch and the above instructions.  You can use the Tombo Liquid Glue or a Two-way Glue Pen to stick the bird together.  Add dimensionals to the back.

2.  Punch out a label in Whisper White card stock with the Decorative Label Punch.  Add Dimensionals to the back.

3.  Stamp "Seasons Greetings" with Old Olive ink on the Whisper White card base.

4.  Using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, run the front half of the White card base through the Big Shot.  Make sure that it will emboss so the dots are "bumpy" at the front of the card.

5.  Adhere all pieces together.

Part 1: December Stamp Club Cards

Northern Flurry in Baja Breeze

Directions:

1.  Place Baja Breeze card stock in embossing folder and run through Big Shot.  Using a sponge dauber and Whisper White craft ink, lightly rub or tap the raised snowflakes.  Add varying sizes of pearls to snowflakes.  TIP:  To remove pearls from sheet, carefully move the pearl "off it's spot" with your finger.  Then use a tweezer to pick up pearl and place.   

Ribbon:

2.  Tape the Baja Breeze card stock to Whisper White card stock.  Cut a "v" in the one end of a long piece of ribbon.  Tape the other end to the back of the white card stock.  Use a glue dot in the front if it is not lying flat.  With a shorter piece of ribbon, tape ends together to make a "circle".  Make flat and use glue dots to adhere to longer ribbon.  

3.  Stamp "Merry Christmas" in Not Quite Navy ink.   Punch out using Decorative Label Punch.  Stamp snowflake in Baja Breeze.  Adhere to top of ribbon with a dimensional.

Option:  Sponge edges of Baja Breeze card stock with Whisper White ink and a Sponge Dauber. 

Dimensions:

Not Quite Navy Card Base:  8 1/2 x 5 1/2 

Whisper White:  4 1/8 x 5 3/8

Baja Breeze:  4 x 5 1/4

Part 2: November Stamp Club Card

Bell and Boughs with Champagne Glass Glitter

Here is the second card for the November Stamp Club.  We tried a new ribbon technique on how to tie a bow.  You can see the video on how to do this HERE.

Directions:

1. Stamp the image in Black Stazon ink and colour using Always Artichoke and Cherry Cobbler ink on watercolour paper.

2. Sponge edges in Crumb Cake ink.

3. Tape large Cherry Cobbler card stock and DSP together.  Place strip of seam binding to front of card and tape in back.  Make bow as in instructional video.  (Thanks to Crafty Confessions blog!)

4. Tape watercoloured image, Always Artichoke and Cherry Cobbler card stock together.  Add dimensionals to the back and adhere to the DSP layers and card base.

5. Use the Tombo Liquid Glue and run a bead of glue around the four sides of the Cherry Cobbler card stock.  Sprinkle with Champagne Glass Glitter.

6. Add bow to edge with a glue dot.

Dimensions:

Always Artichoke Card Base:  5 1/2 x 8 1/2

Cherry Cobbler:  4 1/8 x 5 3/8

DSP:  4 x 5 1/4

Cherry Cobbler:  3 x 4 1/8

Part 1: November Stamp Club Card

We weren't able to get together for our November Stamp Club meeting because of the weather ~ a winter storm.  So last night, at our December Club get-together, we made our November and December projects.  We made four cards and one 3D item.  Since that would end up being one long post, I'm going to spread them out.  So stay posted.  Here is Part 1 of the November cards.

Joyful Season with Letterpress Plate

Directions:

1.  On letterpress plate, ink "stockings" with Old Olive Craft ink and "joyful season" with Cherry Cobbler Craft ink.

2.  Place letterpress plate face up directly on tab 1 of Big Shot multipurpose platform.  Add Dotto to back of watercolour paper and stick to clear cutting pad.  CAREFULLY place paper and cutting pad on top of the letterpress plate.  Line up carefully and holding firmly, wind through the Big Shot.

3.  Assemble card.

Serene Snowflakes on Acetate

I received a special request to post this card. Brenda, this card is for you!

Here are a few details on the card that might not be self explanitory by looking at the photo or the supply list. The photo of the card is at a wierd angle because it was tricky not getting any glare from the window where I was taking the picture.

1. Cut Naturals White card stock to 4 1/4" x 11". Score at 4 1/4" and 5 1/2". Fold card at
5 1/2".

2. Stamp snowflakes with White Stazon ink on 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 acetate (These are also called transparancies and can be found at an office supply store. This would also work with Stampin' Up!'s Snowfall printed window sheets. You just wouldn't need to stamp.)

3. Adhere 4 x 4 Basic Black card stock and 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 Kraft card stock to the top of the White card base - inside the scored square.

4. Place acetate on top of the White card base and punch holes for eyelets with crop-o-dile. Add eyelets.

5. Stamp Christmas sentiment on 1 1/2 x 2 1/4 Naturals White card stock. Sponge daub edges with Sahara Sand ink. Adhere to TOP of acetate.

6. Adhere 1 3/4 x 2 1/2 Basic Black card stock to UNDERSIDE of acetate. (Lay the black card stock on flat surface with adhesive already on it and then lay your acetate over it lined up evenly. Make sure when you are adding the adhesive to the black card stock that it doesn't go to close to the edge otherwise it will show.)

7. Finish off with ribbon.

Hurray! My last Christmas card to be posted. I am looking forward to making cards that are not on the Christmas/holiday theme.

Right now my hair is up in velcro rollers, the table is set and we are all ready for Christmas (I just need to figure out what I'm going to wear to church tonight LOL)! My DH is officially on holidays and everyone is looking forward to the holidays. Merry Christmas to all of you!!

Lovely as a Tree Masked

The boys are finally on their school break. It is so nice to sleep in, take some time to get going in the morning and not have to rush around. One boy is playing and the other is watching a bit of TV right now, so I thought I'd quickly write another post. I might only have a few minutes before this peace and quite ends. :)



This is another Christmas card I sent out this year. To make the mask, I cut out an oval from cardboard with the Coluzzle template. The cardboard oval cutout/template was placed over the white card stock and held firmly in place. I inked up the Lovely as a Tree stamp and stamped off once on scrap. Then I stamped over the cardboard template. Keeping the template in place, I sponged Bordering Blue ink inside the entire oval. After removing the template, I stamped the evergreen tree off to the one side of the oval and "Merry Christmas" on the other side. I then placed the template over the oval image again and pierced holes around the oval, omiting the areas with the evergreen tree and the sentiment. (I had previously pierced holes evenly in the cardboard template. That way I just needed to place the template over the finished image and pierce through the holes of the template to the cardstock. Much quicker and perfect every time!!)


Note: On the cards I sent out, I added another layer. I added Bravo Burgundy card stock beneath the Whisper White card stock. Of course I forgot to take a picture.

Season of Joy

Yesterday my mom sent out her Christmas card/email and I noticed that she added my blog address in the letter. So that means that I had better update and add another post. The pressure is on!


I have been busy making Christmas cards for our family. Then on Monday, Byron's boss asked me to make 25 cards for him by the end of the week. I ended up making 12 new ones for him and just taking the rest from the stack of cards I was going to send out. Luckily I made too many because I had enough cards for us and him!


This is the card I made. The picture shown is the my first take on the card. I ended up using a variety of patterned paper in the same colour scheme and all with various patterns of polka dots. Unfortunately I just realized that I forgot to take pictures of the other cards I made using patterned paper by Basic Grey and My Mind's Eye. I actually like some of the other paper I used better. Oh well.

I made some of the cards using 5/8" Chocolate Grosgrain Ribbon and others using the 7/8" Chocolate Satin Ribbon (from last years Stampin' Up! mini catalogue). I inked up the edges of the card stock with the edge of the stamp pad and I cut out the tree and popped it up with dimensionals.
