More Cowgirls

As you can see, I am still on this cowgirl kick. I have one more to post. :)

A couple details about the card: 1) I stamped one of the Itty Bitty Background stamps (one that has more uniform polka dots) on Not Quite Navy card stock, then stamped the cowgirl on top of polka dots and cut out the dress. Then I glued them on the girls of the main image. 2) Also, I masked the middle girl so that there wouldn't be arms and legs sticking out everywhere. Get it?? Stick people sticking out. Yeah I know. It's a stretch. LOL

Another Stitched Exotic

Another card made with Stitched Exotics. I cased this one from Jenn D. With this card I chose the ribbon first and then picked the colours to match. What you cannot see in the picture is that I stamped the Stitched Background stamp with Whisper White Craft ink on the large piece of Whisper White card stock and then imbossed with White Embossing Powder. It gives it a bit of texture.

Another Weekend Sketch Challenge #46

I made another card using Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge, except I flipped it around to make it stand lengthwise.



I used the technique, Misting with Markers, on this card. I did not actually use markers to colour the stamp, but used the ink pads to stamp on top of the stamp. The concept is the same.

Love Birds

Lately I've been coming across the Anniversary Birds stamp by Verve Visual on Splitcoaststampers or various blogs. What a neat stamp. I don't have that stamp, but I do have a bird stamp as part of Nature Stamps by Rhonda Farrer (Autumn Leaves). So I made my own version of that set.
Reflection Technique:

Here is how I stamped the two birds facing each other: I used a piece of Vellum Card Stock and stamped with Brown Stazon on one side of the vellum. I flipped the vellum over and stamped the bird again on the other side so that it is facing the other one. It is as easy as that!!

I coloured in the birds with Certainly Celery and Cool Caribbean ink with an Aquapainter. By the way, I did not stamp with Stazon the first time, so when I coloured the birds, the brown ink ran into the other colours. Oops. Then I remembered that I should have used Stazon. Vellum is a non-porous surface and Stazon works much better!!

I didn't use any adhesive to adhere the vellum to the Whisper White Card Stock underneath it, since I don't have anything that would not show. What I did instead was used the brads and photo anchor to hold the vellum in place.

I am happy with the way this card turned out. And I love the Designer paper. I think it looks like crazy,colourful, doodled eggs. Enjoy.

Valentine's Altered Items

I have noticed in the blogging world that there are lots of you who are altering various items for Valentine's Day. I have decided to give it a try. I find that I enjoy it more when there is a purpose or reason for making the item that is being altered.

Altered Lollipop

Zachary, my oldest, is in Kindergarten so this is the first year that he has to hand out Valentine's. We thought we would try something special. I had showed him a picture of an altered lollipop and he really liked that idea. The picture shown is one that I made. He had to make 22 and he stamped them all. He also did some gluing, punching (with the SU! punches- they are easier to use than the Marvy punches) and wrote his name on the back of them.

Altered Candy Jar

At our school this week, it is Teacher Appreciation Week. On every day of the week various people are bringing snacks to the staff room for the teachers. I have to bring mine tomorrow. They asked for healthy snacks but since it was Valentine's Day I thought I'd throw in some Hershey Kisses. (I am bringing homemade bran muffins, cheese and grapes too. That's healthy!!) I thought I'd jazz up the jar for the Kisses.

Fabulous Faux Silk Flower

I thought I would share another quick and easy card with you. On this one I used the Faux Silk Technique on the main stamped image. You can see the tutorial on SCS here.


I did something a little bit different from the first time I tried this technique. Instead of using Aquapainters to colour in a lined image stamp, I inked a bold image stamp, the large flower from the Fabulous Flowers set, and stamped on the tissue paper. I also crinkled the paper before I stamped rather than after. It has a little bit of a different look to it but I think it works.

By the way, make sure that once you have glued the tissue paper to the card stock, you wait until it dries before you stamp on it. I did not and stamped my sentiment "for you" and it ran a bit.

A Sketch for You to Try

This last weekend I tried out i {heart} to stamp's Sketch For You To Try. You can view the sketch HERE.

I don't think I will be as long winded as I was on the last post. See here are just a few things to take note of:

I stamped the star from the Studio G Clear Stamps in Cool Caribbean ink, popped it up on a dimensional, stuck it to the card and then added Crystal Effects to it. Crystal Effects is usually the last thing I do to a card. That way I know I won't smudge it and mess up the card.

I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig with the stamped circles from All In A Row. I wanted to make sure that they were placed in the center of the Old Olive strip of card stock.

The "just for you" sentiment is layered with three circles. I used a Chocolate Chip marker to make little lines around the bottom 2"circle. It helps tie it in with the circles with lines on the Designer Paper.

After making this card, there is something I discovered about my "card making skills". I think I find it easier using designer paper that has smaller patterns on it rather than large ones. Like these large circles. I like the end result better when I've used patterns that are more subtle and not as bold. But it is always good to try something new.

A Birdie and House Thankyou

This is the first card that I made yesterday in my attempt to "get inspired". I used this cute card from Alli Miles as a template. You can also view her great blog HERE.

With this card, I wanted to make sure I used supplies that haven't been used for a while. I need to use up some of my "old" stuff before I buy some new stuff. (LOL) So, I got out my Cool Caribbean card stock and some Michael's ribbon that I've had sitting around for a while.
